IIMAGE 2016 - the second global conference of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad Alumni Association North America was held in New York on July 22 and July 23 with a theme, “Leadership and Change in an Interconnected World,”
IIMAAA North America president Samar Das kicked off the proceeding with opening remarks, discussing goals of the association. Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin, India’s permanent representative to the U.N., delivered the keynote address, discussing how the world’s connectedness through social media was helping with transparency and responsiveness of government agencies.
The conference featured some of IIMA alumni luminaries, as well as speakers from other fields.
Numerous sessions were held throughout the two-day event, including discussions on the future of marketing, leadership, technology’s role in finance and a fireside chat with Indian American MasterCard chief executive officer Ajay Banga, talked about leadership, his personal journey and the role of technology-driven change.
Other speakers throughout the event included Citigroup Technology chairman and CEO Jagdish Rao, State Bank of India country head Padmaja Chunduru, University of Chicago professor Pradeep Chintagunta, IBM chief technology officer and general manager of strategy and solutions Shanker Ramamurthy, and Goldman Sachs managing director Harit Talwar, among many others.
The second day of the conference was highlighted by IIMA director Ashish Nanda, who addressed the attendees about the strategic importance for the institute to connect with alumni.
During his address, Nanda introduced Rakesh Basant, who will be taking over as dean of alumni and external relations at IIMA. Additionally, he talked about strengthening existing ties and building new global and local collaborations to help the institute.
